By accessing or using any Forktastic product, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.
These Terms apply to all Forktastic products, including:
Forktastic Browser Extension ("Extension") — available for Firefox and Chrome
Forktastic Web Application ("Web App") — accessible at app.forktastic.com
Forktastic Mobile Applications ("App") — iOS and Android applications
Forktastic Marketing Website — accessible at forktastic.com
Throughout these Terms, we use the following defined terms:
"Service" refers to all Forktastic products collectively
"App" refers to the Forktastic Mobile Applications (iOS and Android)
"Content" refers to recipes, images, reviews, and other materials you create, upload, or share through the Service
"We," "us," "our" refers to Forktastic
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. Service Description
Forktastic provides AI-powered recipe extraction and organization services. The Service includes:
Recipe Extraction: The Extension detects and extracts recipes from web pages using AI
Recipe Management: The Web App and App allow you to organize, edit, and manage your recipe collection
Meal Planning: The App provides meal planning, grocery lists, and nutrition tracking features
Hands-Free Cooking: The App offers voice-controlled step-by-step cooking guidance
Family Sharing: The App allows you to create family groups and share recipes with family members (see Section 8)
Health Platform Integration: The App can write nutrition data to Apple Health or Google Health Connect (see Section 11)
All nutrition information provided by Forktastic is AI-generated and intended for educational and informational purposes only. It does not constitute medical, dietary, or nutritional advice.
3. Account Registration and Security
To use most features of the Service, you must create an account using your email address and a password, or through a supported third-party authentication provider (e.g., Apple, Google).
You agree to:
Provide accurate and complete information during registration
Keep your login credentials confidential and not share them with others
Notify us immediately at support@forktastic.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used for fraudulent or abusive purposes.
4. Subscriptions and Payments
Forktastic offers both free and paid subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions provide access to premium features including unlimited recipe extraction, advanced meal planning, and family sharing.
Payment Processing: Payments are processed through the Apple App Store (iOS), Google Play (Android), or Stripe (web). We do not handle or store your payment card information directly
Subscription Management: We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status across platforms. Only your anonymous user identifier and subscription status are shared with RevenueCat
Auto-Renewal: Paid subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. You will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period
Refunds: Refunds for App Store or Google Play purchases are handled by Apple or Google, respectively. For web purchases, contact us at support@forktastic.com
5. User Responsibilities
When using the Service, you agree to:
Provide accurate information, including your email address and dietary preferences
Respect the intellectual property rights of recipe creators and other content owners
Use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only
Not attempt to abuse, exploit, or reverse-engineer the Service
Not upload unlawful, harmful, or infringing content (including photos shared via recipe banners or reviews)
Not share your account credentials with others
Not scrape, harvest, or collect data from other users
Supervise any minors you add to family groups and ensure their use complies with these Terms (see Section 8)
6. User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of all Content you create or upload to the Service, including custom recipes, photos, reviews, and recipe modifications.
By uploading Content to the Service, you grant Forktastic a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, display, and transmit your Content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service. This license ends when you delete your Content or your account, except where your Content has been shared with other users (see below).
Shared Content
When you share Content with family group members, through the Explore feed, or via short URLs:
Recipients may view, save, and interact with your shared Content
If another user saves a copy of your shared recipe, revoking sharing or deleting your account does not remove their saved copy
Content shared to the Explore feed may be viewed by any Forktastic user, including anonymous visitors
We reserve the right to remove Content that violates these Terms, applicable laws, or the rights of others.
7. Device Permissions and On-Device Processing
The App may request access to certain device features. All permissions are optional and user-initiated. Denying a permission does not prevent you from using the Service, but may limit certain features.
Microphone and Speech Recognition: Used for voice-controlled cooking steps. Audio is processed entirely on your device by Apple's speech recognition framework (iOS) or Google's speech services (Android). Audio is never uploaded to Forktastic's servers.
Camera and Photo Library: Used to take or select photos for recipe banners and reviews. Selected images are compressed and uploaded to our storage infrastructure (Cloudflare R2) only when you explicitly attach them to a recipe or review.
Health Platform Access: Used to write nutrition data from meal plans to Apple Health (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android). Health data is written locally to your device and is never transmitted to Forktastic's servers. See Section 11 for full health data terms.
Push Notifications: Used to send meal plan reminders, cooking timers, and family sharing updates. You can disable notifications at any time through your device Settings.
You can revoke any permission at any time through your device Settings. For details on how we handle data related to these permissions, see our Privacy Policy.
8. Family Sharing
The App allows you to create family groups, invite members via invite codes, and share recipes and cookbooks within your family.
Group Ownership and Membership
Each family group has a creator who manages the group
Each member must have their own Forktastic account
Invite codes should only be shared with intended family members; you are responsible for who you invite
The group creator may remove members at any time
Shared Content in Family Groups
Recipes and cookbooks shared with a family group are visible to all group members
You retain ownership of recipes you create, even when shared
When a family group is dissolved, shared associations are removed, but original recipes remain with their creators
Minors in Family Groups
If you add a minor (under 16 years of age) to your family group, you represent that you are their parent or legal guardian and that you consent to their use of the Service under your supervision. You are responsible for their activity within the group.
9. Intellectual Property
Forktastic IP
All content, features, functionality, AI models, algorithms, and user interface designs of the Service are owned by Forktastic and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service.
Your Content
You retain ownership of Content you create or upload, subject to the license granted in Section 6.
Third-Party Recipe Content
Recipes extracted from third-party websites remain the intellectual property of their original creators. Forktastic facilitates extraction for your personal use, but you are responsible for respecting the intellectual property rights of recipe authors and publishers.
Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable license to use that feedback for any purpose without compensation to you.
10. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Privacy Policy describes in detail how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data.
Key data practices include:
Dietary preferences and allergies you provide during onboarding are used to personalize recipe recommendations
The App uses PostHog for analytics (screen views, feature usage); session replay is disabled
Health data integration is covered in Section 11 of these Terms and Section 2.10 of our Privacy Policy
Device permissions are covered in Section 7 of these Terms and Sections 2.10–2.12 of our Privacy Policy
Content view tracking for shared recipes and the Explore feed is described in Section 2.9 of our Privacy Policy
By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Health Data Disclaimer
The App can write nutrition data from your meal plans to Apple Health (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android). This feature serves a health and fitness purpose by helping you track nutritional intake from your meals.
What We Write
The App writes only the following data types: calories, protein, carbohydrates, fats, fiber, sugar, and saturated fat. The App does not read any data from Apple Health or Google Health Connect.
Local Storage Only
Health data is written directly and locally to your device's health platform. This data is never transmitted to, stored on, or processed by Forktastic's servers. Once written, the data is managed entirely by Apple Health or Google Health Connect on your device.
Permission and Control
You must grant explicit permission before the App writes any health data. You can revoke this permission at any time through your device Settings. Revoking permission does not delete data previously written to your health platform — you can manage that data directly through Apple Health or Google Health Connect.
Prohibited Uses of Health Data
Forktastic commits to the following regarding health data:
We do not use health data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than writing nutrition information to your device's health platform
We do not share, sell, or disclose health data to any third party, including advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers
We do not access the HealthKit or Health Connect APIs for any purpose other than the health and fitness purpose described above
Not Medical Advice
Nutrition data written to your health platform is AI-generated and informational only. It does not constitute medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. The accuracy of nutrition data depends on the quality of the source recipe and our AI extraction process. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making health decisions based on nutrition data.
12. Disclaimers and Warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
Without limiting the foregoing, we specifically disclaim any warranty that:
AI-generated content (including extracted recipes, nutrition data, and ingredient lists) is complete, accurate, or error-free
Dietary preference and allergy filters will catch every ingredient or allergen — you should always independently verify ingredients, especially if you have food allergies or dietary restrictions
Third-party recipe content extracted from external websites is accurate, current, or authorized by the original publisher
The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or free from errors
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Forktastic shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
Health-related decisions made based on AI-generated nutrition data (see Section 11)
Allergic reactions or adverse health effects resulting from reliance on dietary recommendations or allergy filters
Loss of data, including recipes, images, or account information
Actions taken by other members of your family group
Content shared by other users through the Explore feed or short URLs
Service interruptions, downtime, or unavailability
In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars ($50), whichever is greater.
14. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings or by contacting us at privacy@forktastic.com.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior, or if we are required to do so by law.
Upon termination:
Your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy (within 30 days)
Recipes you created will be deleted from our systems
Content that was shared with and saved by other users may persist in their accounts
Your membership in family groups will be removed
Health data previously written to your device's health platform is not affected — it is managed by Apple Health or Google Health Connect
Sections 6 (User-Generated Content), 9 (Intellectual Property), 11 (Health Data Disclaimer), 12 (Disclaimers), 13 (Limitation of Liability), and 15 (General Provisions) survive termination.
15. General Provisions and Contact
Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Forktastic regarding your use of the Service
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect
Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision
