How to Order Your Weekly Groceries via Instacart in Forktastic
One-tap Instacart hand-off from Forktastic's family-shared grocery list. Plus the fallback 'send list' flow if Instacart isn't in your area.

If you delegate grocery shopping to delivery — through choice or necessity — the friction usually shows up between "I have a grocery list" and "the order is in." You translate items from list to delivery app, lose the brand-specific notes, forget half the things on the way. Forktastic skips that translation entirely. One tap sends your grocery list to Instacart.
The flow
- Build your grocery list from your weekly meal plan. Plan-to-list walkthrough.
- Tap "Order via Instacart."
- Forktastic packages the list as an Instacart cart and hands you off to the Instacart app or web page (depending on which platform you're on).
- Confirm any substitutions or quantity adjustments Instacart suggests, pick your store, pick your delivery slot.
- Place the order. Done.
What gets transferred
Item names, quantities, brand preferences (if you noted them in the recipe), and any one-off items you added manually. Forktastic doesn't transfer your "have" markings — those filtered the list during build, so by the time you hand off to Instacart, the list is the active shopping items only.
Store matching
Instacart will pick from stores in your area. The store choice happens on Instacart's side, not Forktastic's — we hand off the list and Instacart handles inventory matching. Your usual stores are remembered by Instacart for future orders.
Substitutions
For items that aren't available at the chosen store, Instacart proposes substitutions. You can accept, decline, or contact the shopper. None of this happens through Forktastic — it's standard Instacart flow once the cart is in their hands.
What happens if Instacart isn't in your area
Forktastic also supports a generic "Send list" flow that exports the list as plain text or shares it through any other app you have installed. Use whatever delivery service is available in your region. The recipe-to-list translation still saves you the work.
Family-shared lists and Instacart
The list that goes to Instacart is the family-shared list — everyone in the family can add to it, and the version that ships to Instacart is the complete shared state. If your partner added bread from their phone an hour ago, bread is in the order.
